About us
Built in Lagos, for the way Lagos actually trades.
ChampPay is a multi-service, multi-currency payments company. We are building acceptance, settlement and treasury infrastructure for African businesses — and we are building it from inside the market rather than describing it from outside.
Why we exist
The infrastructure question is not solved just because the volume arrived.
Nigeria’s move to electronic payments is one of the fastest anywhere. That story gets told as a triumph, and largely it is one. But underneath the headline volume sits a merchant who still has to buy a terminal, still waits days for settlement, and still reconciles by hand on a Sunday night.
We think the next decade of African payments belongs to whoever serves that merchant properly — not with another consumer wallet, but with the layer underneath: acceptance that needs no hardware, settlement that arrives while they are trading, and eventually the ability to hold and move the currencies their business actually runs on.
How we work
Four commitments we are prepared to be held to.
Say where we actually are
In build is in build. Planned is planned. We label projections as projections and we would rather lose a meeting than win one on a claim that does not survive diligence.
Partner where partnering is right
Regulated activity belongs with licensed institutions. Our architecture reflects that from the first line of code rather than as a retrofit.
Build for the hard case
The market stall, the queue, the patchy signal, the phone that is three years old. Design for that and the easy cases take care of themselves.
Paper the relationship
Scope, fees, confidentiality and non-circumvention agreed in writing before value moves — with partners, introducers and counterparties alike.
The company
The plain facts.
The things people ask in the first five minutes, answered without a brochure in between.
Legal entity
Champ Pay Nigeria Limited, incorporated in Nigeria.
Base
Lagos, Nigeria — where the first market is, and where the team is.
What we do
Merchant acceptance, multi-currency treasury, and institutional digital-asset liquidity.
First market
Nigeria domestic, with regional corridors following.
Stage
In build. Product engineering, partner and licensing work, and go-to-market design are all live.
Approach to regulation
Products developed in step with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s framework and launched with licensed partners.
The name
Pay Like a Champ.
It is not a slogan about winning. It is about how a payment should feel on both sides of the counter: quick, certain, and over with — so that the person taking the money can get back to running their business.
