Investors

The thesis is a merchant, not a market size.

Nigeria’s cashless transition is decided. The open question is who serves the businesses at the bottom of that curve — and whether the company doing it can also hold their currency and their treasury.

The case

Four things have to be true.

We would rather you test these than read an adjective-heavy summary. Each is checkable, and two of them are checkable without us.

01 · The volume is real

Nigerian electronic payments hit a record in 2025 and POS value more than doubled year on year. This is published third-party data, not a projection we produced.

02 · Hardware is a genuine constraint

Millions of active terminals represent a distribution and capital burden that a software terminal removes. That is a cost structure difference, not a feature difference.

03 · Acceptance earns the right to treasury

A company that already sits in the flow can credibly offer dollar balances, cards and cross-border. One that does not, cannot. Sequencing is the moat.

04 · It is built from inside the market

Nigeria-incorporated, with the relationships that matter held directly rather than through an agent on another continent.

Revenue architecture

Where the money comes from.

Stated as lines rather than a forecast. Any numbers attached to them in our materials are labelled indicative, because that is what they are.

Transaction fees

The core acceptance line, earned per transaction across QR, SoftPOS and proximity transfers.

FX spread

On multi-currency balances, card spend and cross-border movement.

Premium merchant services

Analytics, inventory and financial tooling sold on top of the acceptance relationship.

Treasury optimisation

Managed float and settlement timing, within the limits our partners’ permissions allow.

Institutional liquidity

The digital-asset wholesale line, served to business counterparties under agreement.

Stage

Early, and described that way.

ChampPay is a company in build. The product is being engineered, the partner and licensing path is being worked, and the go-to-market is designed but not yet run at scale. Anyone telling you otherwise about a company at this stage is selling something.

What that means practically: figures in our materials are projections and labelled as such, and where a capability is planned rather than in place, our documents say planned. We would rather lose a conversation than win one on a claim that unravels in diligence.
