champ-pay.com is live. It is a small thing to announce, but the way it is written is a decision worth explaining.
What the site is for
Four kinds of reader arrive at a payments company’s website and want completely different things. A merchant wants to know whether it will work on their phone and when the money lands. A sponsor bank wants to know what it would be putting its permissions behind. An investor wants the thesis without the adjectives. An introducer wants to know the terms before they spend their own credibility. Each now has a page written for them rather than a paragraph inside somebody else’s.
The editorial standard
Everything published here is held to three rules:
- Capability is described at its actual stage. If something is in build, the site says in build.
- Figures are sourced or labelled. Market data is attributed to the third party that published it. Anything forward-looking is labelled indicative.
- Nobody is named without agreement. Partners appear here when an agreement is executed and they have agreed to be named — not while a conversation is in progress.
What comes next
The newsroom will carry both company announcements and market notes on African payments infrastructure. The two are labelled separately on purpose: our analysis of the sector is not the same category of statement as a claim about ourselves, and the site should not blur them.
